Conditions of Employment

• Successful completion of the South Carolina Fire Academy NFPA FF-I; NFPA FF-II; DOT First Responder and Department training program
• Background investigation, and Personal medical history Questionnaire
• The Department has a policy of pay for time worked. All time worked will be compensated in accordance with the U.S. Fair Labor Standards Act.
• Time off, when granted—regular days off, special leave, etc.—will be approved by an assigned supervisor. Vacation time for particular days is granted on a seniority basis.
• Fire Department Regulations prohibit off-duty employment without first obtaining permission, in writing, from the City Administrator.
• The Fire Chief establishes the grooming requirements for Fire Department employees.
• If employment is offered, the employee realizes that the Simpsonville Fire Department performs emergency services and that employees assigned to emergency duties must accept conditions necessary to meet the demands of such emergencies.
• Refrain from using illegal drugs on or off duty as a condition of employment and will submit, upon notice, to random drug testing or upon probable cause.
• Agree to maintain a physical fitness necessary for the performance of duty.
