

Fire Marshal Eddie Watson began his career in the fire service as a volunteer with Simpsonville Fire Department August of 1977. In June of 1980, Fire Marshal Watson became a paid Firefighter with the Department. He served in the capacity of a Firefighter until July of 1987 when he was promoted to Lieutenant and was responsible for the operations of shift personnel and fire ground operations.
In 1995 he was promoted to Fire Marshal and took charge of the Prevention and Inspection Department, which took him off shift work and on a Monday thru Friday 8 AM to 5 PM schedule. His duties now include plans reviews for new construction, industrial and new business inspections, oversees inspections performed by fire marshal office personnel and public education by shift personnel. Fire Marshal Watson served as Interim Fire Chief from August 1 through November 15, 2000 until Chief Jess Major was appointed as the Fire Chief. He works directly under the Fire Chief overseeing all aspects of Fire Prevention and Inspections the department currently performs.
Fire Marshal Watson represented the SC Fire Marshals Association concerning continuing education requirements for Certified Fire Marshals. He worked with the State Fire Marshal Bert Polk, Deputy Fire Marshal Bill Galloway and other members of the SC Fire Marshals Association, the State Fireman's Association, and the South Carolina State Association of Fire Chief's.
